The Wales International Harp Festival is not an inward-looking, niche-harp-world event. Its artistic breadth, wide range of competition categories, and exceptional level of community involvement all celebrate the fact that music is for everyone. It is also a vibrant proof that accessibility and high standards are not mutually exclusive, but rather belong together. Inspired by this inclusive, open and rigorous spirit, we wanted to sponsor an education project associated with the festival, supporting Welsh teachers, and pupils of all ages. We hope the workshops will emphasize how important the harp is in Wales, how many fantastic teachers there are, and how enriching and exciting it can be to learn our wonderful instrument.
Together with our partners in Cardiff Telynau Vining Harps, we are therefore sponsoring six such workshops. You will have the chance to work with Elinor Bennett at every workshop, plus the following artists:
January 17th, 5-8PM, Withington Girls' School, Manchester with Elfair Grug Dyer
January 18th, 10AM - 4PM, Theatr Twm o'r Nant, Denbigh, with Glian Llwyd
January 19th, 10AM - 4PM, Portmeirion, with Dylan Rowlands
February 1st, 10AM - 4PM, Forge Fach, Clydach, Swansea, with Gwenllian Llyr
