The sixth Rio Harp Festival will take place between May 1st and 31st of this year. This extensive festival always features some of the biggest names in the harp world, and this year is no exception. Renowned harpists from over twenty countries will fly to Brazil. Kaori Otake (Japan), Les Alizés (France), Athy (Argentina), Carrol McLaughlin (USA), Rita Costanzi (Canada), Maria Palatine (Belgium), Remy Van Kesteren (the Netherlands), Benjamin Creighton-Griffiths (Wales), Silke Aichhorn (Germany), Caroline Liebe-Muller (France), Elena and Giani (Italy) and Claire Jones (Wales) will all make their debut at the festival.
This year's festival will also feature a week entirely dedicated to Latin-American harp, starring Athy, Dario Andino, Gabriela Russo, Marcela Méndez, José Enrique Corredor, Monica Gallego, Enrique Guzman, Walter D'Harp and Rosalia Lopez, along with famous Brazilian harpists Célia Maria Machado, Cristina Braga, Vanja Ferreira and Jonathan Faganello.
All the concerts are free! They will be held all over Rio, such as at theIlha Fiscal, Corcovado, Academia Brasileira de Letras , Real Gabinete Portugues de Leitura , Arquivo Nacional and also in subway stations. Find out more on the festival website.
