The 21st masterclass session organised by the legendary festival Harpe en Avesnois will be taught by Frédérique Cambreling. It will take place between Friday, February 8th 2013, and Sunday, February 10th, in Feignies in North East France.
The session will begin with one of Karlheinz Stockhausen's final works: Freude, for two harps, voice and electro-acoustic sound processing. It will be performed by Frédérique Cambreling and Bleuenn Le Friec (harps and voice), and Vincent Carinola (sound desk).
The session will then continue as follows:
Saturday, February 9th :
- 10:00 - 12:30: masterclass and workshop on contemporary repertoire, junior level
- 14:00 - 19:00: world premiere by Frédérique Cambreling of a work by Vincent Cariola for harp and electronics, commissioned by Harpe en Avesnois. This will be followed by a workshop about how electronic technology can be employed to enhance and develop music.
- 15:30 - 19:00: masterclass and workshop (all levels) about works for harp and electronics (works must be pre-approved by the organising committee according to the technical resources available: contact harpeenavesnois@gmail.com).
Sunday, February 10th, 10:00 - 12:30 and 14:00 - 17:00:
Masterclass about contemporary repertoire*, dating from Luciano Berio's Sequenza (1963) - present. This class is a homage to Berio, the tenth anniversary of whose death will be in 2013. He transformed the harp's technical and expressive language, and has remained a reference for all new composers.
Please send your applications to Harpe en Avesnois by January 3rd, 2013. The registration fee is 150 euros: this includes the masterclasses, lodging, food, and tickets for the festival concerts. Cheques will not be cashed until after your application has been accepted, but cancellation after January 3rd cannot be reimbursed (except in cases of force majeur).
